Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2008-12-31

Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2008-12-31
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Beno Udrih, Shooting guard John Salmons, Small forward Francisco Garcia, Power forward Mikki Moore, Center Brad Miller. Bench -- Center Spencer Hawes, Forward Jason Thompson, Forward Mikki Moore, Guard Bobby Brown, Guard Bobby Jackson, Forward Donte' Greene.

PLAYER NOTES:

--C Spencer Hawes had an MRI on Tuesday that revealed an abdominal strain. He is considered day to day, although Kings interim coach Kenny Natt said after Tuesday's win that he expects the second-year player to practice on Wednesday.

Just one game before, Hawes had lost his starting job to forward Mikki Moore against Boston. He did not play against the Clippers.

--G Francisco Garcia is in a four-game shooting slump, having hit a combined eight of 31 shots in that span (25.8 percent) while facing San Antonio, Toronto, Boston and the Clippers. Garcia didn't play in the second half against Boston on Sunday because of right calf stiffness, and the fourth-year player spent much of the second half Tuesday against the Clippers with ice on his calf. He played 10 of his 23 minutes in the second half, with five coming in the fourth quarter.

--C Brad Miller is a focal point of the Kings' offense, with their system relying heavily on his role as the point-center of sorts who finds his teammates from his high-post position. The role often means he is more vital as a distributor as a passer than a scorer, although the big man attempted to reverse those roles on Tuesday night.

He hit just 5-of-15 shots and scored 15 points against the Clippers, marking just the fourth time this season he has taken 15 or more shots.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Kenny Thomas (left calf strain) remains out but could return this week.

--C Spencer Hawes (strained abdomen) did not play against the Clippers on Tuesday and is day to day.
