ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Beno Udrih, Shooting guard John
Salmons, Small forward Donte' Greene, Power forward Jason Thompson, Center Brad Miller. Bench -- Center Spencer Hawes, Guard Bobby Brown,
Guard Bobby Jackson, Guard Quincy Douby, Forward Shelden Williams,
Forward Kenny Thomas.
PLAYER NOTES:
--G Quincy Douby has been on quite the roller coaster ride the
past two weeks. On Nov. 5, the third-year guard turned his ankle
against Memphis and missed the next two games. Upon his return, he
went two more games without playing per the decision of coach Reggie
Theus. In the two games that followed, he hit 7 of 19 shots in a
combined 44 minutes but missed two potential game-winning shots in
losses to Phoenix and San Antonio. Then after going 0-for-9 against
Memphis on Tuesday in 21 minutes, it was back to the bench for Douby
as he did not play against New Orleans on Wednesday.
--C Spencer Hawes has been accused of being addicted to his own
perimeter game, and Wednesday night showed why. The 7-foot center in
his second season buried three shots from 16 feet and beyond and
another in the paint on nine attempts. He had nine points, six
rebounds and one block in 28 minutes off the bench.
--G/F John Salmons knew he would have a huge opportunity to
flourish as a starter this season, and the numbers are reflecting that
reality. Salmons -- who averaged a career-high 12.5 points per game
last season when he started 41 games -- entered Wednesday's game
averaging 17.9 points per game. In the last five games alone, Salmons
has averaged 24.8 points on 62.9 percent shooting (39-of-62) overall.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G/F Francisco Garcia (strained right calf) has yet to play in
the regular season and is expected to miss at least one more game
(Friday against Portland). He did not make the trip to Memphis and New
Orleans that ended Wednesday and may practice for the first time at
the end of this week.
--G Kevin Martin (sprained left ankle) has missed the last five
games and may not play until next week. He did not make the trip to
Memphis and New Orleans that ended Wednesday.
--F Mikki Moore (turned right ankle) did not make the trip to
Memphis and New Orleans that ended Wednesday and is day-to-day
thereafter.
