Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2008-11-03

Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2008-11-03
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Beno Udrih, Shooting guard Kevin Martin, Small forward John Salmons, Power forward Mikki Moore, Center Spencer Hawes. Bench -- Forward Jason Thompson, Guard Bobby Jackson, Guard Quincy Douby, Forward Shelden Williams, forward Kenny Thomas.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F Jason Thompson has looked nothing like an inexperienced rookie. The player who was drafted No. 12 out of Rider University in New Jersey has scored a combined 40 points on 17-of-28 shooting and 22 rebounds in 61 minutes, forcing Kings coach Reggie Theus to give him floor time while starter Mikki Moore continues to struggle on the boards.

--G/F John Salmons is averaging 16.6 points per game, but that doesn't reflect the reality of the situation. The player considered by many within the organization as a No. 2 option behind G Kevin Martin has yet to find his rhythm and has spent large portions of play having little to no impact.

--F Shelden Williams has only one way to earn more minutes: play physically. Luckily for the third-year player out of Duke, that's his style. Yet after coming to the Kings in the February trade that sent Mike Bibby to Atlanta, Williams may not have showcased his brawn any better than he did Saturday against Orlando's Dwight Howard. Williams forced two jump balls while defending the big man and finished with 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G/F Francisco Garcia (strained right calf) missed the regular-season opener at Minnesota on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least another two weeks.
