DRAFT PICKS:
Jason Thompson, PF, 6-11, Rider -- The productive big man was the early surprise of the draft -- many expected the Kings to take LSU's Anthony Randolph. But Thompson's rebounding (12.1 per game as a senior, ranked second nationally) and low-post game (20.4 points per game) should help the Kings' weak frontcourt. Sean Singletary, PG, 6-foot, Virginia -- After pulling out of the 2007 draft and returning to Virginia for his senior season, it appears Singletary might have made the right move. He was dealt to Houston in August as part of the Ron Artest deal.
Patrick Ewing Jr., PF, 6-8, Georgetown -- While many expected the son of Knicks great Patrick Ewing to go undrafted, the Kings took a flyer on this high-flyer. He was dealt to Houston in August as part of the Ron Artest deal.
PLAYER NOTES:
--G Beno Udrih re-signed for five years and approximately $33 million. The 25-year-old had planned on playing for his national team in Slovenia but decided against it so he could train for next season.
--C Brad Miller will be suspended five games to start next season for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. The announcement came on July 10. According to the Sacramento Bee, Miller failed a drug test for marijuana for a third time.
