Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2009-11-08

Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2009-11-08ROTATION: Starters -- Guard Beno Udrih, Guard Tyreke Evans, Small forward Andres Nocioni, Power forward Jason Thompson, Center Spencer Hawes. Bench -- Forward Omri Casspi, Forward Ime Udoka, Forward Kenny Thomas, Guard Sergio Rodriguez, Forward Jon Brockman.

--G Kevin Martin was given two options as they related to his left-wrist injury. He could put it in a cast to be worn for eight weeks, or he could have surgery and be able to begin rehabilitating within approximately two weeks. He chose the latter, and will have the procedure done on Monday. It's the latest in a long line of disappointing injuries for the sixth-year player, as he played in just 61 games in the 2007-08 season because of a groin injury and 51 games last season because of a bone bruise in his left ankle.

--F Jason Thompson followed his 22-point, 12-rebound, five-assist outing against Atlanta on Wednesday with a 12-point, 11-rebound, five-assist performance at Utah on Saturday that was nearly as impressive. Thompson held his own against Jazz forward Carlos Boozer and kept the ball moving on a team that will depend heavily on a free-flowing offense if they are to survive the recent losses.

--F Desmond Mason was the odd man out with the recent signing of Ime Udoka, as he was waived on Thursday. Mason was added before training camp with the hope that he would provide improved perimeter defense and occasional scoring. But the veteran, who was playing on a nonguaranteed deal, had hit just 11 of 40 shots and has seen his minutes dwindle. After playing in 17, 18 and 21 minutes, respectively, in the first three games, Mason played just seven minutes against Memphis and three minutes against Atlanta.

--G/F Francisco Garcia (right wrist fracture) is out at least until mid-February after his exercise ball accident on Oct. 9. The fifth-year player was bench pressing with 90-pound dumbbells in each arm when the ball exploded and the weights caused the injury that required surgery.

--G Kevin Martin (hairline fracture, left wrist) will undergo surgery Monday and miss at least eight weeks thereafter. Martin suffered the injury during last Monday's game against Memphis in which he scored 48 points, but the injury wasn't revealed until he had tallied 29 points and 11 rebounds against Atlanta on Wednesday and finally received the diagnosis Thursday.
