Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2009-09-10

Sacramento Kings Roster Report 2009-09-10PLAYER NEWS:

--G Beno Udrih is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines after damaging his left knee ligament in a Sept. 3 game between his Slovenian team and Germany. If Udrih has to sit for most of September, it could lead to a bad start to the season for a player who so badly needs a good one. Udrih was among the league's worst point guards in the 2008-09 campaign, underperforming after signing a five-year, $32 million deal last summer.

--Kings G Kevin Martin visited Indonesia in late August as part of the NBA Cares program. The fifth-year player was the lone NBA player on hand, coaching a camp of 48 players from the country's DetEksi Basketball League while spending three days with various charity efforts. Martin was sure to leave something behind before departing, as he donated his $15,000 NBA stipend for attending to the DBL.

--F Francisco Garcia has been competing with his Dominican Republic team in the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico. And with Beno Udrih's injury, he is now the lone Kings player playing for his national team.

--G Tyreke Evans, 6-5, Memphis (first round) -- The Kings love his ability to get to the rim and defend, but hope he improves his shooting and passing.

--F Omri Casspi, 6-9, Maccabi Tel Aviv (first round) -- He was drafted for his energy and toughness, as Casspi is a fiery competitor who excels in the up-tempo game. He must add muscle and improve his shooting.

--F Jon Brockman, 6-7, Washington (second round) -- The former teammate of Kings center Spencer Hawes is a bruiser in every sense of the word, but his lack of size or athleticism will make this quite a challenge for him.
