--After signing Beno Udrih to a five-year deal in early July, the Kings continued to bolster their point guard spot by signing Bobby Brown on July 25.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Brown's deal is for two seasons at the league minimum with a player option for the second. Brown went undrafted out of Cal State Fullerton last summer and played in Berlin thereafter, but he made his official NBA debut as a member of the New Orleans Hornets summer league team. Brown averaged 15.2 points and 6.3 assists with the Hornets. --The Kings signed first-round pick Jason Thompson on July 9. According to the Sacramento Bee, he will earn $1,893,840 in the first of two guaranteed seasons with two team options thereafter. Singletary and Ewing Jr. were also signed, though their deals are not guaranteed until the beginning of the regular season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "If (Ron Artest) didn't want to be (in Sacramento), they (the Kings) had to find a way to get rid of him. We know how talented he is, and (the Rockets) gave up a lot for him. He's a great player, and he can do a lot for Houston, but you don't know what you're going to get out of him. Houston's got their hands full." -- Soon-to-be Kings guard Bobby Jackson, on the agreed-on trade that sent Ron Artest to Houston.
