Sacramento Kings Notes, Quotes 2009-02-19
--According to the Sacramento Bee, the financial struggles of Kings co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof are certainly daunting enough that they are worth following. The Bee reported that the Maloofs are estimated to lose some $25 million on the Kings this season, with the losses attributed mostly to their attendance (12,200 average at home), which is last in the league.

--In order to make room for the players in the trade with Chicago and subsequent trade with Portland, the Kings had to cut third-year guard Quincy Douby and newly acquired point guard Sam Cassell. Douby was the 19th pick in the 2006 draft, with Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie hoping the Rutgers product could replicate his high-scoring ways with the Kings as he had in college. He simply never did, though, and the fact that he was waived is one of the many recent indictments on Petrie's record. Cassell was traded to the Kings on Tuesday, although he never reported before being waived and is now clear to sign with a playoff contender if he so pleases.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "My time (in Sacramento) was unbelievable -- the best years of my life and some of the not-so-best. I had a lot of good times and made a lot of good friends out here. Right now, I'm going somewhere where I know a lot of people and I'm looking forward to it." -- Kings center Brad Miller, who played for Chicago from 2000 to 2002 and was traded to the Bulls on Wednesday.
