--F-G Francisco Garcia signed a five-year extension. According to the Sacramento Bee, the deal is for $29.8 million with a team option in the final season. Garcia is coming off a breakout season, having proved himself as a quality sixth man who can play multiple positions and is a favorite of his teammates in the locker room.

--F Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who couldn't overcome nearly two years of nagging knee injuries, announced his retirement on Sept. 22 and didn't take long to transition into his next career. The 12-year veteran was added to the Kings' coaching staff as an assistant at the start of training camp and will primarily work with the team's big men.
