--As it turns out, Michael Finley's game-winning 3-pointer for San Antonio against the Kings on Sunday will likely result in a league-wide rules change.
Finley's shot came with 1.3 seconds left on the game clock in the fourth quarter, but it clearly came after the shot clock had expired. As the rules stand, a shot can be reviewed only if it is to determine whether it's a two-point or 3-point shot or if it is to determine whether the shot came before the game clock expired. But in a conference call with reporters on Monday, NBA commissioner David Stern indicated that a rules change regarding such a scenario could be expected. --Five and a half months later, the Kings' season that began in Minnesota will end in Minnesota too. On Oct. 29, a Kings team coached by Reggie Theus and still including the likes of John Salmons and Brad Miller (who was suspended for the season's first five games by the league) lost 98-96 to the Timberwolves at the Target Center. Sixty-four losses later (65 in all), the Kings that are coached by Kenny Natt and include five players who weren't with the team at the outset play at the Target Center again on Wednesday night to conclude their atrocious season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I could have bounced it off the floor and it would have went in." -- Denver guard J.R. Smith, who hit a franchise-record 11 three-pointers and scored a career-high 45 points against the Kings on Monday night at the Pepsi Center.
