--The latest Kings-Warriors meeting was nothing like the one that came before it, when Golden State won 143-141 in overtime on Wednesday. Kings shooting guard Kevin Martin had a career-high 50 points and Warriors guard Monta Ellis had a career-high 42 points to go with nine rebounds and nine assists. Both players sat out Sunday's game with ankle injuries.
--In the latest sign of how bad the Kings defense truly is, the 105 points allowed to Golden State on Sunday was the lowest total by a Kings opponent since March 20 at New York (94). They have allowed 100-plus points in 16 of the last 18 games and are 29th in the league overall with an average of 109.5 points allowed per game. --With six games to go, the Kings are still on track to finish as the worst team in franchise history. They have 16 wins, which is three less than the Cincinnati Royals teams of 1958-59 (19-53) and 1959-60 (19-56) that are the benchmark for futility. Their loss to Golden State on Sunday secured their status as the worst Kings team in the Sacramento era that began in 1985. The 1989-90 Kings went 23-59 and is the worst since they came to their current city.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We didn't step up at any point in the game until late in the third quarter. Basically, we just goofed off in this game for three quarters and then decided to play. By that time, they've already made their move and had the cushion. That's the story of our team right now." -- Kings coach Kenny Natt, on his team's loss to Golden State at Arco Arena on Sunday.
