--The Kings may have avoided going winless against the Eastern Conference by downing the Knicks on Friday, but they will still finish the season with one of the worst interconference records in league history.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that short list includes the 1986-87 Clippers (1-21 against the East), the 1996-97 Denver Nuggets (2-28 against the East), the 2000-01 Chicago Bulls (2-26 against the West) and the 1981-82 Clippers (2-20 against the East). The Kings are 1-28 against the East this season. --The Knicks deserved the boos they were hearing from their fans at the Garden during the loss for a number of reasons. But their inability to out-rebound the league's worst rebounding team most certainly was one of them. The Kings -- who entered play with the league's worst rebounding differential (minus-5.42) -- won the battle of the boards 52 to 36.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "(The win) is unbelievable after going through what we've been through, coming here at the end of a road trip and not having a win against an East Coast team. To come here to the Garden and play the way that our guys did, I told them it was monumental." -- Kings coach Kenny Natt, on his team's blowout over the Knicks on Friday at Madison Square Garden.
