With less than three weeks until the trade deadline, it remains likely that the Kings make a move of some kind.
But in light of the current context -- that of a 10-38 team which is on pace to be the team's worst in franchise history -- change could come to almost any and all parts of the roster. "You have to be open to just about anything at this point," Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie told the Sacramento Bee recently. "What form that might take, I don't know yet, but certainly I think you have to have a very, very open mind about what type of things you might consider and what immediate impact it might have -- at least in some facet of what you're trying to do."
The most often talked about players are Brad Miller and John Salmons, and that appears to remain the case. Miller has reportedly been offered to Miami in a deal that -- according to the Bee -- would also send forward Kenny Thomas to the Heat and bring Shawn Marion to Sacramento. The hitch, reportedly, is the Heat's insistence that the Kings also take point guard Marcus Banks back.
The fact that Salmons is being shopped is no surprise, as he should have decent value and is not considered to be part of the Kings' big-picture plans. Then again, it could be a number of other players as well. Trades are meant to help teams improve, of course, and the Kings have more than enough room for improvement.
BULLS 109, KINGS 88: The Kings' losing streak stretched to eight games at Arco Arena on Friday, when Chicago's Luol Deng and Ben Gordon combined for 20 points and the Bulls won in Sacramento for the first time in 12 years.
The Kings shot just 36.8 percent while giving up 100-plus points for the 11th straight time. They gave up 34 points in the first quarter while trailing by 12 points.
