The Kings have already fired their coach, and there are no indications that their general manager is next, so the rebuilding of the roster continues.
When it comes to ways through which a team can be fixed, the adage is that the coach gets fired because the team can't fire all the players. The Kings have not improved since dismissing Reggie Theus, and it is now up to president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie to find a way out of the organization's dark season. With the February trade deadline approaching, the Kings continue to be among the most oft-mentioned teams on that front. According to numerous reports, they have offered center Brad Miller to several teams and appear open to discussing most of their roster if it meant a deal that could aid their cause.
For the time being, Petrie's recent trades appear to have done little to help the on-floor product. Meanwhile, the players sent packing -- from Peja Stojakovic to Mike Bibby to Ron Artest -- continue to flourish in their new surroundings. With the team long since gone from the playoff picture, the next six weeks and what Petrie does with them will be key.
PACERS 122, KINGS 117: Danny Granger wasn't quite as hot as Kevin Martin, but he was hot enough. The Pacers guard hit all six of his free throws down the stretch and scored 13 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter as the Kings lost for the eighth time in their last nine games. Martin had 45 points, hitting 13 of 24 shots, but he missed his last two 3-pointers in what was his third game back after missing 10 games with a left ankle injury.
