Sacramento Kings Getting Inside 2009-11-20

Sacramento Kings Getting Inside 2009-11-20A casual fan checking the NBA standings might be surprised to see that the Kings are a .500 team through 10 games -- and that's after their disappointing home loss to the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

One of the chief reasons for their relative early success is guard Tyreke Evans, who on Tuesday scored 20 points for the fifth straight game.

But the play of forward Donte' Greene, getting only his fifth career start because Andres Nocioni was out with a sore hip, also earned a lot of attention Tuesday. Greene had a game-high and career-high 24 points, shooting 10-for-19 from the field, and coach Paul Westphal thought Greene could have had even more if he'd gone to the basket more.

"It's OK for him to shoot (threes) but it's not OK for him to shoot rushed, early threes," Westphal told the Sacramento Bee. "And I thought he adjusted that in the second half and played even better. And he played very well in the first half as well. It was a very nice performance from him."

The Kings will be hard-pressed to maintain their .500 record. They head out on a three-game road trip to Dallas, Houston and Memphis.

BULLS 101, KINGS 87: The Kings' 21 turnovers led to 28 Chicago points as Sacramento's four-game winning streak ended. Forward Donte' Greene, starting in place of the injured Andres Nocioni, had a career-high 24 points, and guard Tyreke Evans scored at least 20 points for the fifth straight game.
