* ONE GAME AT A TIME: While it's tempting to look ahead during this eight-game homestand, Hawks coach Mike Woodson's focus is much tighter.
He's not looking anywhere beyond the opponent at hand. That's why any discussion about Wednesday's nationally televised date with Boston would have to wait until after Monday's game. "It's one game at a time, and that's so true," Woodson said. "We can't come out worrying about the next game. You've got to worry about the game you're staring at right now and Charlotte's that game. And we have to play with the same kind of effort and intensity that we did [in a win over] Cleveland the other night."
That doesn't mean the novelty of an eight-game homestand is lost on Woodson.
"I've never in all my years as a player or coach in the NBA seen a schedule where you have eight straight home games," he said. "... On one hand it's nice, because we've been out on the road so much. But you still have to be careful how you approach it and make sure guys are ready to go and that you handle your business here at home."
* HEAVY METAL: While most of his teammates filed out of the locker room and headed for home after Monday's shootaround practice, Zaza Pachulia stayed behind.
He snatched a pair of gloves with the fingers cut half off and headed for the weight room for some work with strength and conditioning coach Chattin Hill.
Pachulia said he's still trying to regain his strength from a shoulder injury suffered earlier this season.
"I like to lift three times a week, either before the game or after the game," he said. "It's helped me get stronger after the shoulder. ... I like to lift after games or the morning after games just to replenish and get my body stronger because I have to be able to hold my own down there around the basket."
* BEAT 'EM INSIDE: The Hawks' interior defense was severely lacking in the first quarter Monday night.
They allowed the Bobcats to score 18 of their 27 first-quarter points in the paint, a staggering number for any 12-minute stretch.
